Our Pool Installation Process In 7 Simple Steps
Your pool installation process couldn’t be simpler with our team of specialists managing each of the key stages for you – from the first site inspection, to preparing your property, right through to final handover – our team is on hand to help and provide expert advice, every step of the way.
Stage 1 - Council Permits & Engineering
Getting started couldn’t be easier! Our team will take care of the paperwork by submitting plans to Council for approval of your new pool. Once the building permit has been granted our team can get to work organising on-site inspections and starting the exciting process of bringing your dream backyard to life.
Stage 2 – Site Inspection & Preparation
You’ll be appointed a dedicated Site Supervisor who will start the installation process with a 1-2 hour site inspection – this is generally completed around 1-4 weeks before your installation is scheduled. Your Site Supervisor will measure your backyard, confirm the pool location, check underground utilities, finished pool height, filtration equipment position, site access and any other installation requirements.
This inspection is your best opportunity to ask any questions relating to your pool installation directly with your supervisor.
- If you need to prepare the area before machinery arrives
- Does any fencing need to be moved for access
- If you need to protect paving or driveways that form part of the access route.
Stage 3 – Pool Excavation
Once your property is ready, we can start digging. The excavation team will start preparing the area for your fibreglass pool. Installers follow dig sheets and laser measurements for precise excavation. There is a lot of activity on-site during this time with excavators and bobcats requiring regular access between the street and backyard. Once the pool hole has been dug the base material is prepared, screed and levelled to match your selected datum level (finished pool height).
Stage 4 - Pool Delivery & Placement
This is the big day when your new fibreglass pool arrives onsite! Your Installation team completes the final site preparation, confirms the pool position and levels with you before the pool shell is lifted by crane and lowered into the excavated pool hole. Once the temporary pool fencing is erected, to comply with Council regulations, your pool can be part filled with water ready for the next stage of the installation process.
This is one of the most exciting parts of the process where the reality of your new pool really starts to take shape.
Stage 5 - Backfill, Plumbing & Filtration
Once the pool shell is positioned correctly, backfilling, filtration plumbing and compaction begins. The filtration equipment is installed into the position confirmed during your site inspection. This work is generally completed over 1–7 business days, depending on the project and site conditions. Once these works are completed, you’re ready for the final project stages – electrical connection and the most exciting part – pool handover day.
Stage 6 - Electrical Connection

Handover day! Your handover technician will arrange an appointment. Your pool will be cleaned using the technician’s equipment and you’ll receive a theory session on pool filtration, water chemistry and instructions regarding how to maintain and look after your new pool. Before the appointment, make sure to fill your pool to the top of the skimmer box so the final clean can commence.
Once handover is completed then it’s onto the finishing touches – an inground blanket box – if chosen, followed by your choice of paving, concreting, decking and other landscaping – bringing your backyard vision fully to life with your sparkling new pool as the feature element.

How long does a fibreglass pool installation take?
While every project differs based on Council and site conditions, a rough guideline from initial consultation to first swim typically spans several weeks – Council approval is generally the biggest variable. We recommend starting the consultation process as early possible – our expert team can walk you through the steps and start the ball rolling with approvals.
How long does the pool shell take to install?
Generally, just one day. Once excavation and preparation are complete, the fibreglass pool shell is craned into position on installation day. The installer then checks the position and completes any final levelling required. Post pool installation the remaining project stages to handover generally takes around 15 business days – depending on site conditions.
